What is The Health Is Life Creative Jam?

Our Creative Jams work similarly to a “hack-a-thon.” We bring together a community of artists, poets, designers, animators, and illustrators from across creative mediums alongside issue experts and inspirational speakers to create a fun and supportive environment to explore a specific topic. This Creative Jam is a 3-hour “create-a-thon” celebrating art and creativity as a means to transform society by adopting a shared vision that “health is life.”

We will explore how we can collectively shape new narratives that advance policies, practices, and values to help get to the ultimate goal—a society where everyone, regardless of their identity, has a fair and equal opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

You will hear from experts on the issue, be given a thorough and thoughtful creative brief, and enjoy music and speakers as you create artwork about the theme. While you work, you will be able to hear from your peers about their creative process, see their work in progress, and be able to share a bit about your own (if you want to!). How Will My Artwork be used?

We will distribute your digital artwork as far and wide as possible. You retain full ownership. Our only ask is that after registering, you will sign a release form to participate so we have exclusive rights to upload your artwork on GIPHY, Tenor and Gfycat. Additionally, we’ll share your artwork with hundreds of non-profit partners as part of our free-use library. Your artwork will never be sold or monetized. Simply put, your artwork will be used to support the spread of compassionate policy-making, not to make money.

Will I be credited for my work?

We will always tag and credit you whenever your art is uploaded. Of course, we can not control if people will continue to credit you when they share your work… but you can count on us to!

Is this paid?

We know the value of the investments you’ve made as an artist and honor the real demands on your time and that what we have to offer is not reflective of your talent and worth. That said, we would like to acknowledge your work and participation with a modest, one-time honorarium of $100.

Is this open to participants outside of the United States?

Yes, this is open to all invited artists - wherever you are.

Who is participating?

The Health Is Life Creative Jam will feature a series of special guest hosts - comedians, musicians, and other high-profile artists. The line-up will be announced prior to the livestream.

The Health is Life Creative Jam is supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and produced by Taskforce.
